Looking back, credit card interest messed up my budget. Switching to debit only gave me peace of mind.

Totally get where you're coming from after reading what @lily_sullivan82 said. Credit cards made my budget a nightmare because I never felt the money leaving. Switching to debit was the only way I could actually stick to my plan.

Read this piece online about how easy it is to fall into the minimum payment trap. I mean, they showed a chart where someone bought a $1,000 TV and took years to pay it off with interest. Idk, it really made me see how debit cards force you to only spend what you have. Maybe it's just me but seeing numbers like that makes budgeting feel more real. Switched to debit myself last year and it cut down my impulse buys big time.
