My neighbor's envelope system made me question my whole budget app
I was bragging to my neighbor Phil about how my budgeting app tracks every category down to the penny. He laughed and showed me his stack of labeled envelopes with cash in them, said he's been doing that since 1998 and never once overdrew. It hit different because he pays for everything in cash and somehow still saves $400 a month more than I do. So which is better, the convenience of automation or the pain of physically handing over money? Has anyone else switched back to a more hands-on method and seen a real difference?
