The $38 meal plan app that actually cost me $400 in groceries
I downloaded this popular meal planning app thinking it would cut my food budget in half. It gave me these fancy recipes with like 15 ingredients each, most of which I never used again. So I was buying saffron and fish sauce and specialty stuff every single week, and my grocery bill jumped from $280 to $410 in just two months. Meanwhile I was throwing out half-rotten herbs and half-used jars constantly. I finally canceled it and went back to my simple rotation of about 8 cheap meals I know by heart. Has anyone else had a budget tool that secretly made things worse before you wised up? What app or service backfired on you like that?
