My friend swore by color coded collections for tracking habits - I tried it for 3 weeks in Seattle
She said assign each habit a highlighter color and use that across your whole journal. I ended up spending more time matching colors than actually logging stuff. Has anyone else found a simpler way to track habits without all the extra steps?

Color coded collections sound nice on paper but they add friction to what should be a quick habit. I tried something similar with sticky notes and color pens and realized I was just playing arts and crafts instead of building routines. What finally worked for me was a plain spiral notebook with a simple checklist at the top of each page. One column for the date, one for the habit, and just a checkmark or X. No colors, no matching, no special pens. Just takes ten seconds a day.
