Passed 10,000 pounds of ground beef in my first year, didn't even notice until I checked the books

I was just going through my invoices last month for taxes and added up all the ground beef I'd sold since opening. Hit 10,247 pounds exactly. That's like 40 cows worth of meat just from my little shop in Austin. Didn't feel like I was doing that much volume but the numbers don't lie. Has anyone else ever totaled up a random category and been shocked?

That's a wild number to see all at once. 40 cows in a year in a small shop sounds about right though, especially if you're doing burgers or tacos that folks come back for. Probably didn't notice because it happens one 10 pound case at a time, not like you stacked up 40 cows in the back room one day.

Figure it's more like 30-something whole cows accounting for trim and waste.
