The meat saw guard on my bandsaw saved my thumb last Tuesday

I was breaking down a 200 pound pork shoulder at the shop off Route 9 when the blade grabbed a chunk of bone and kicked back hard. My glove caught the guard instead of my hand, and honestly it bent the guard pretty bad but kept all five fingers attached. Anyone else had a close call like that and gone back to check their saw guards before every shift?
