A cheap plastic calculator from 1988 had a click that stuck in my head more than my phone ever will
Last week I dug out my dad's old Casio fx-82 from a box in the garage in Fresno and the keys still snap down with this tiny, sharp tick that feels amazing. I looked it up on a vintage calculator forum and a guy there measured the old dome switches at around 1.5 newtons of force, which is way lighter than the mushy flat glass on my phone. Does anyone else think the plastic keys on old gadgets from the 80s beat anything touchscreen has come up with?
