Swore by loud blue switches for 6 years, then my mic caught my keyboard on a Tuesday call
I used to be one of those people who thought a keyboard wasn't real unless it sounded like a tiny machine gun going off. I ran clicky blue switches in my daily driver for about 6 years, and the noise felt like proof I was getting stuff done. Then a coworker on a Tuesday standup said, 'hey, what's that tapping? it's coming through your mic,' and I heard the playback. It was awful. Every single letter I typed punched through the call and I had no idea. That same week I ordered a set of silent linears and swapped them in over a Saturday, and honestly the deep thock under my fingers is way more satisfying than the sharp click ever was. It's quieter on the outside but it still gives me that little bump feeling with every key. Now when I type at 11pm my neighbor in 4B doesn't text me asking what I'm doing. Has anyone else made the switch from clicky to silent, or do you all just deal with the dirty looks at the office?
