Why do cheap membrane keyboards sound so much better than some $150 mechanical ones?
I picked up a $12 Logitech K120 at a thrift store in Boise last month just to have a backup, and honestly the thock on those membrane keys is cleaner than my buddy's $160 board with Cherry MX Browns. His sounds hollow and pingy, like tapping a empty soda can. Mine is quiet and solid. I get that switches are supposed to be the whole point, but has anyone else noticed that price and sound quality don't line up at all? What's the cheapest board you've found that still sounds good?
