I used to swear by my hand crank press for everything, even big runs, and last Saturday I pushed out 200 buttons for a zine swap in Portland and my right wrist was toast for two days. A guy at the swap told me he switched to a 1 ton arbor press with a die adapter and does 200 in about 40 minutes now. I set one up in my garage this week and the first 50 felt weird because you lose that little click feel, but the backs seat flat every single time and my hand is fine. The weird part is my old press gave me maybe 85 percent clean crimps, and now I am getting basically all of them. Anyone else here move off a hand crank, and did you have to shim your dies to get the depth right?
