My wife asked me why I never build anything for our own house

We were talking about the new shelves I just finished for a client, and she just said, 'You make beautiful things for other people all day. When do we get something?' It hit me that I've been in the shop for 15 years and our kitchen still has the builder-grade cabinets I hate. I guess I'm always too tired after a day of work to start another project at home. How do you guys find the energy to work on your own stuff?

Man I feel this so hard! My garage is full of half-finished projects for my own place. What finally worked for me was blocking off one Saturday morning a month just for my house. I treat it like a real appointment I can't break. It's not much time but seeing my own stuff slowly get done feels amazing. That first small win, like finally fixing our wobbly table, gave me a boost to keep going. You gotta make your home the most important client on your list!

Totally! That first win is key. Once you get that momentum going, it's way easier to keep carving out time for your own stuff.

Why not treat your own home like your best client?
