PSA: Stop wrapping tape around the cable before you strip it, I see it every week

40 years in the trade and I still catch myself doing it every now and then. Last week I had to stop and peel back three layers of electrical tape just to see where I actually made my cut. It's a bad habit I picked up from an old foreman back in 1985 and it just stuck.

Funny how the old habits never die no matter how many times we swear them off. Tape's cheap. Lightning the cause of a short or a call back? That gets expensive fast. Maybe it's less about the habit and more about knowing where your insurance stops and your own pocket starts.
