Shoutout to the guy in Phoenix who told me to stop stapling my drop cable at 12 inches
I was running a 3 outlet job in a house near Camelback last Tuesday and the homeowner kept following me around asking why I was hammering staples so close together. I told him it was for support and kept going, but he said his brother did cable work and told him every 12 inches was way too tight for RG6. Sure enough, I came back Friday and had 2 outlets with signal loss on my meter that I could not explain until I remembered he was right about the staples pinching the cable. I pulled all of them out, went back to 18 to 24 inches with a looser loop, and my readings came back clean the first try. Has anyone else had a customer actually know what they are talking about when it comes to your own cable runs?
