Vent: drilled through a joist in a 1920s Euclid Ave house and nicked a water line 4 feet from the panel
Was running 12/2 through the basement ceiling of this old Cleveland Heights place when the bit punched into a copper line and water started spraying everywhere. I killed the main in about 20 seconds, ran for the shop vac, and mopped it up before the homeowner even came downstairs, then told her straight up what happened and called a plumber out of my own pocket. Any of you keep a sharkbite cap and a rag on the van for exactly this, or am I the only one who's done it twice?

Killed the main in 20 seconds? Thats the right call but 4 feet from the panel means that pipe was prob already running right next to where you had to drill, not really bad luck. Carry a couple sharkbite caps in 1/2 and 3/4, theyre cheap and save your ass.
