Just realized my lens cleaning routine was doing more harm than good

I used to blast sensor dust with those canned air duster cans, thinking I was saving time, until I cleaned a Nikon D850 last week and saw the residue smear across the filter instead of blowing off. Turns out I was spraying too close and the propellant was leaving a film that attracted even more junk inside. Any of you guys switched to a proper sensor swab kit and notice a big difference in how often you have to go back in?
