Unpopular opinion: I compared a $40 set of generic spudgers to the Wiha ones and the cheap ones are just better for camera work.

Okay, the "cheap ones are just better for camera work" line got me. I was totally a brand name snob for years, swore by my expensive set. Tried a generic kit last month on a lens ribbon cable and the extra flex in the cheap plastic spudger was a game changer, way less chance of scratching the sensor housing. Never going back for delicate stuff.

Remember when everyone swore by name brand everything in the toolkit, thinking the extra cost meant better quality across the board. I see this pattern in all sorts of stuff now, not just tools. Take kitchen knives for example - you can spend a fortune on a top brand chef's knife, but for opening a simple package or cutting a tomato, the cheap paring knife from the grocery store actually does the job better and is easier to sharpen. Or think about basic furniture assembly - the cheap allen wrench that comes with the flat pack often fits the bolts better than the expensive set you bought because it was made specifically for those fasteners. It's like we've been trained to believe expensive means better, but the truth is that cheap stuff is often designed with simpler, more practical methods that work exactly how they need to. Your experience with the spudger is just one more example of how the cheap option can outsmart the fancy one when it comes to actual use.
