Warning: The new 'quick fix' shutter lube from that big online shop is a disaster
Last week I had a Nikon F3 come in with a shutter that was sticking at 1/1000. Figured I'd try that new 'fast acting' lube everyone's been talking about on the forums. Applied a tiny drop like the bottle said, let it sit overnight. Next morning, the shutter was completely frozen solid. Had to strip the whole assembly down, clean every part with pure alcohol, and re-lube with my usual Nyoil. Took me 4 extra hours. The stuff is way too thick and gums up in the cold. It's sitting in my trash now. Has anyone else tried this junk and had the same problem, or did I just get a bad batch?

Mine's been fine, @spencerr82. I keep it in the fridge and just wipe the bottle neck with a damp cloth after using it. Never had that sticky issue.

Question if it's even a real problem worth tossing the whole bottle. Simon's method seems simple enough, and @spencerr82, maybe you just got a bad batch. People make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.
