I finally quit buying a new stove each spring after a guy at a trailhead in Flagstaff showed me his 20 year old one
I used to grab a fresh canister stove every season thinking they were disposable, and last May at a trailhead near Flagstaff this older hiker pulled out a beat up WhisperLite he bought in 2003 and said it had never once let him down. He showed me how he just cleans the jet with a wire and swaps the o-ring for 4 bucks, and it hit me that I had spent close to $400 on stoves I tossed. Anyone else still running gear from way back, or am I the last one who fell for the upgrade trap?
