A client in Portland told me my Figma frames looked 'sterile' and it took me 2 weeks to realize they were right
She said everything was too perfectly aligned and empty, like a showroom, so now I leave in rough hand-drawn notes and messy autolayout overrides in my Canva mockups before I export anything, and it got me more work in a month than my clean files did all year, has anyone else gotten feedback that made you intentionally add mess?

Wait, what does 'sterile' actually look like in your Canva mockups now, like are you adding random pen scribbles that say 'move this up 3px' or are you just making the spacing slightly off on purpose? I'm curious if it's a visual thing they're responding to or more that they feel like your files are negotiable instead of final. Seems like the mess is a signal that says 'this is a starting point, not a finished product' which is smart, but do you ever catch yourself overdoing it and losing the actual design clarity?
