Designers keep exporting PNGs for client logos and it's screwing everyone over
I have been doing freelance design work in Detroit for about 4 years now and I swear 8 out of 10 clients send me their logo as a PNG or JPG and then act surprised when I ask for the vector file. Last Tuesday a bakery owner sent me a 400px wide JPG pulled from her Instagram and wanted me to blow it up for a 6 foot banner, and I had to explain that scaling it up would just make a blurry mess. The thing is, Canva makes it so easy to just hit download and grab a PNG that people never think about whether the next person needs something that can resize cleanly. In Figma I can at least see the layers and ask for the actual component, but a flat exported image gives me nothing to work with. What finally got through to her was when I showed her the same logo exported both ways side by side at banner size. How do you all politely tell clients they need to send the source file without sounding like a jerk?

Show them the blurry banner first, then ask.
