Showerthought: I spent 2 weeks rebuilding a 6 slide deck in Figma when Canva's grid tool would've done it in 20 minutes
I used to think real designers only worked in Figma, so I redid a whole client pitch from scratch there last month even though the thing was just six simple slides. My coworker watched me struggle for two weeks and then said, just use Canva, it has that exact grid layout you keep eyeballing. She was right and it stung. Now I'm sitting here wondering how many other people are forcing Figma on stuff that never needed it.
Two weeks?? On six slides?? That is wild. I get the whole "real designers use Figma" thing because I fell for it too, but two weeks is a long time to fight a tool that wasn't even the right one. The grid tool in Canva matching exactly what you were trying to build by hand is kind of funny in a painful way. Figma is great and all but it's not some magic badge that makes you a real designer. Sounds like you learned the lesson the hard way but at least now you know.
