Update: I stopped using layers in Figma for a whole week and my files got better
I always heard that naming and nesting every layer in Figma was the right way, so I spent months building a clean 40 layer tree for every screen. Then a friend watched me work and asked why I was spending 20 minutes organizing stuff nobody would ever see, and he was right, flat frames with just a few grouped parts let me move twice as fast. Has anyone else dropped the layer thing and just worked, or am I going to regret this on a big handoff later?

The 20 minutes organizing stuff nobody would ever see part got me. I used to be that person naming every single frame like it mattered, but then I watched a senior dev hand off a file with like 6 groups total and nobody said a word. Handoffs have been fine so far, people just ask if something's unclear.
