Hitting 100,000 miles on my old Camry was not the milestone I expected
I bought this 2007 Camry back in 2014 with 78k on it, and last Tuesday the odometer rolled over to exactly 100,000. I thought I'd feel proud or something, but honestly I just felt annoyed that I haven't done the timing chain service yet... that's due at 105k and it's gonna cost me around $900 at the shop near my work in Denver. The bigger surprise was how much stuff is starting to wear out at the same time, like the alternator just started whining and my rear shocks are totally shot. I've kept up with oil changes every 5k and rotated tires like clockwork, but it's like the car hits this invisible line and suddenly everything needs attention at once. Is it actually worth sinking money into a car with 100k on it, or am I just throwing cash at a problem that'll keep growing? Has anyone else hit this exact number and felt like the maintenance bills double overnight? I'm trying to decide if I should budget for the repairs or start looking at a used Corolla instead.
