Saw a guy at the Charlotte auto parts store test 4 alternators by hand before buying one
I stopped by the parts store on South Blvd in Charlotte to grab some wiper blades and watched an older guy have the counter guy pull 4 alternators off the shelf so he could spin each one and listen to the bearings. He said he'd been burned twice by remans that whined within 500 miles and it was worth the extra 10 minutes. Made me wonder if I'm the odd one for just grabbing the box and walking out, has anyone else actually done this or is he onto something?
