Serious question, did I get ripped off by that $450 "door to door" car shipping quote?
I booked a transport for my Civic from Phoenix to Chicago back in April and the quote was $450 with a promise of pickup in 3 days. The broker called two days later saying the price was now $700 or I could wait for a truck that might never come. I paid it because I was moving and had no time, then the car sat in a lot outside Flagstaff for 9 days before it moved. Next time I'm calling actual carriers with their own trucks instead of these middlemen. Has anyone found a way to tell a real carrier from a broker before you hand over a deposit?
