I built my bookshelf mockup out of foam board instead of cardboard and now I feel like I cheated
Always used double wall corrugated for anything holding real weight, it's basically free at the shop and I know how it folds. Grabbed a sheet of 1/4 inch foam board from the dollar store on a whim, mostly since I was out of hot glue and the foam takes white glue fine. The thing held 30 pounds of textbooks on the shelf with less sag than my last two cardboard versions, and it only took me 15 minutes to cut. My usual cardboard build for this shelf runs about an hour and a half, so I'm torn on whether the foam is a shortcut that hides weak spots or just a smarter call. Anyone else switch materials mid mockup and feel weird about it?
