My cardboard phone stand sat in a drawer for 3 weeks before I realized the folds mattered more than the shape
Back in March I built a quick stand for my phone at the kitchen table in about 20 minutes, cutting and folding cereal box cardboard just to see if the angle would work before I cut any wood. I kept tweaking the outline for weeks, but the mockup only got stable once I creased the folds twice with a butter knife, and suddenly the whole thing held without wobbling. Does anyone else find that the little fold tricks end up being the real design, not the fancy shape you sketched first?
