Serious question, clear tape vs hot glue for edge mockups, which side are you on?
Last Tuesday I spent about 2 hours on a cardboard mockup of a little phone stand, and I used clear packing tape on the first pass because it was sitting right there on the desk. The thing looked fine from far away but the corners kept popping open, and when I set my real phone on it the whole back panel slid down like it was on ice. So I grabbed the hot glue gun my wife got at a craft store in Mesa for like $12, and wow, the frame got stiff in a way tape never could, though the glue lines look kind of lumpy and I burned two fingers. Now I see both sides: tape lets you tear a seam back open in 5 seconds when you realize your angle is wrong, and glue locks the shape so you can actually test how it holds weight. For a quick shape check I still reach for tape, but for anything that has to survive a real hand grabbing it, glue wins and it is not close. Am I wrong for thinking tape is only for the first 10 minutes of a build? What do you all use when you need the mockup to take a real bump without falling apart?
