My 'no meetings before 10am' rule doubled my output in 6 weeks
I kept burning my whole morning on pointless status calls, then trying to do deep work after lunch when my brain was fried. So I blocked off 8 to 10 on my calendar, told my team I'm unreachable unless something's on fire, and set an auto-decline for invites before 10. In six weeks my project completion rate went from maybe 2 tasks a week to 4 or 5, and my boss actually noticed during our Friday check-in in Austin. The catch is I had to be ruthless, no exceptions for 'quick syncs' or 'just a question'. Has anyone else tried a hard time block like this and seen it backfire when higher-ups got annoyed?
