My old boss told me to stop saying 'I think' in meetings and it actually worked

She said it makes you sound unsure even when you know your stuff, so I swapped to 'based on the data' or just stating facts directly. After 6 months of this, I got put on a bigger project team. Has anyone else tried killing a speech habit and seen real career changes?

I mean, swapping 'I think' for 'based on the data' sounds like a solid tweak, but I'm not sure it's that deep. Like, did the bigger project happen because of that or just timing and good work?

Oh absolutely, I had the same thing happen with a client and it was 100% just good timing.
