The 50 dollar cardboard chair that lasted 8 minutes

Reinforced the bottom with wooden dowels. Held up way better after that.

Hot take: That $200 monitor arm I installed last week nearly dropped my ultrawide because I tightened the gas spring too much while watching a YouTube guide from 2019

Actually I have to push back a little here. That creaking sound is usually just the joints settling into place, not a sign of failure. The gas springs in those arms are built to handle way more torque than most people ever give them, so cranking it down a bit shouldn't make it drop anything. I think the real issue is people watch those guides and crank the tension way past where the monitor's weight actually balances out, so the arm fights itself and makes all sorts of noise but it's not actually going to break. The 2019 guide might be outdated for your specific arm model too, some of the newer ones have different adjustment ranges. If you back off the tension screw just a quarter turn at a time until the arm holds position without sagging when you let go, that creaking should stop and you'll probably feel a lot better about your coffee cup situation.

Warning: That one Tuesday with the nested grid killed my whole afternoon

Oh come on, 6 levels of nesting sounds like you were just asking for trouble. I've done 4 levels before and it was basically a nightmare of inspect element tooltips that wouldn't even load. But crashing the browser completely? That feels like maybe you had some other issue going on, like a heavy image in one of those cells or a weird calc() statement that was recomputing every frame. Did you try just setting explicit heights and widths on your grid tracks instead of letting everything auto-fill?

Rewatching Cowboy Bebop on blu-ray vs the old Adult Swim broadcasts

The Adult Swim broadcasts with all those weird Toonami bumpers were honestly a vibe. I remember catching episodes at 1am back in 2003 and the grainy picture and random commercial breaks kinda added to the whole lonely space cowboy feel. Ngl, the blu-ray looks gorgeous but it's almost too clean sometimes, like it lost some of that late night cable energy. Also the English dub audio mix was way punchier on those old broadcasts, the guns had more bass or something.
