Shoutout to the guy who showed me his layer comp setup at a coffee shop

I was grabbing a latte at Brew House in Portland last month and saw a designer working on some packaging mockups. He showed me how he uses layer comps in Photoshop to flip between 10 different label variations without touching layers. It cut my client revision time from like 2 hours to 20 minutes. Has anyone else found a trick like that for quick variations in their workflow?

Used to cut stair stringers by measuring every rise and run. Now I just use a framing square and a pair of stair gauges.

I spent 3 hours tweaking a CSS grid for a landing page and it looked perfect on my 27 inch monitor. Then I pulled it up on a client's laptop at a Starbucks in Denver and the whole thing shifted into a single column mess. Turned out I forgot to set a minmax on one column and it collapsed below 1024 pixels. Has anyone else had a grid fall apart on a smaller screen like that?

Hit 40 nights in a tent last year and it surprised me

I wasn't trying to set any record. I just kept going out every couple weeks, sometimes just for a Friday night after work. When I added it up in December I was shocked. 40 nights. That's more than I slept in a tent in my whole 20s combined. Back then I was too busy with work and life. Now at 57 I'm making time for it. The gear is better sure but I think the real change is me. Anyone else notice they camp more as they get older?

Picked a manual mower over gas and saved $200 this season

I had to choose between a $400 gas mower or a $180 reel mower for my small lawn in Phoenix. I went with the manual one because I was tired of paying for gas and oil changes every month. It took me about 3 tries to get the hang of it without leaving lines of grass behind. Now I save about $40 a month on fuel and maintenance, and I get a little workout in. Has anyone else tried switching to a non-powered yard tool?
