Watch your studio's shared drive, a freelancer in Chicago lost 6 weeks of client work to one sync error
A buddy of mine runs a small design studio in Chicago and two weeks ago his shared drive synced backwards, wiping a folder of logo files and motion tests for 3 clients that took 6 weeks to build. He had no local copies because the cloud tool said "all files synced" and he trusted it. I checked my own studio's setup after that and found 2 folders sitting in a weird half-synced state. What backup setup do you all actually trust for client work?
I always figured the cloud sync was enough, like why pay for extra drives when it says everything is backed up, right? Then I watched a buddy lose half a project to a sync glitch and it flipped my whole view. Now I keep a cheap external drive that backs up on its own schedule, separate from the sync, just in case the cloud decides to eat itself.
