Rant: Told a software engineer at a networking event in Seattle that my house cleaning biz runs on paper ledgers and he laughed at me for 5 minutes straight

Explained how I track 12 recurring clients and manage my weekly route without any app and he said I was being stubborn not switching to a CRM, but has anyone else found that simple systems work better when you're the only employee?

Roll your eyes and move on, it's a networking event not a job interview. Paper works fine for one person, that guy probably can't even change a tire without an app telling him how.

Running a business on paper might work for now, but if you ever want to grow or even just make tax season easier, a simple CRM or a spreadsheet could save you a ton of headaches down the road.
