Appreciation post: the drywall lift that saved my shoulder on a big ceiling job

Was nailing up 12-foot sheets solo in a warehouse in Detroit and my left arm went numb after the third one, so I rented a lift for 60 bucks and finished the whole ceiling in under 4 hours without yelling at anyone, anyone else avoid a disaster by just getting the right gear for once?

Learned that lesson myself, why do we always try the dumb way first?

it's like our brains just default to the easiest path even when we know better, right? i think it's because trying the dumb way first feels like less of a commitment, like a test run with no pressure. plus there's this weird pride thing, like we can outsmart the process by taking a shortcut and it'll somehow work out. but then reality hits and you're stuck redoing everything, wasting twice the time and energy you would've spent if you just did it right from the start. the worst part is you can't even get mad at anyone but yourself because you knew better.
