Dropped $340 on a pocket hole jig system, used it on one job
I want to be honest about a mistake I made about six months back so nobody else goes down the same road. I saw a bunch of videos of guys building cabinet boxes in minutes with a pocket hole jig and I got convinced it was the answer to everything. I bought the full kit with the case, the clamp, the plugs, all of it, right at $340 after tax. Used it on a single built-in for a customer in Rochester and the joints looked fine, but they did not hold up the way I wanted once the shelves got loaded with books. The screws kept wanting to strip out in the plywood and I ended up backing everything with glue blocks anyway, so I did twice the work for a tool I barely touch now. It sits on the shelf with the case still half full of plugs I will never use. Anyone here still get real use out of theirs on cabinets, or did you switch over to biscuits and dados like I should have?
