One critique about my miters changed everything I do now

Had a homeowner in Spokane call my baseboard corners 'sloppy' last spring. I was pissed at first, but she was right. My miters had tiny gaps on the inside edge that I kept filling with caulk. She pointed out I should cut them slightly long and sneak up on the fit instead of measuring twice and hacking once. Started doing that on every inside corner, paid off on my last 3 jobs. Anyone else get feedback from a client that actually made you better?

Man that story hits close to home. Had a customer last year point out my miters were closing up on the top edge because I was cutting them dead on. She watched me work and said I should leave like a 16th extra and shave it down with a block plane. Felt dumb at first but tried it on her baseboards and then every job after that. Now I never cut to the line, I always sneak up on it. That one tip probably saved me more time than any YouTube video I ever watched. Clients can be annoying but sometimes they really do see stuff we miss.
