Rookie on my crew cut a stair stringer 3 inches short, now I need a fix that passes inspection
Happened Friday morning on a deck rebuild in Boise, my guy Marcus marked the stringer off the old one and it came up 3 inches short on the bottom run. We already have the ledger bolted and the concrete pad poured, so I can't just move the landing. I'm thinking a dropped pad or shimming the bottom with a treated block, but the inspector here is picky about bearing. Has anyone dealt with this and got it to pass without tearing out the pad?
