Warning: pocket hole jig vs. dowel jig for face frames

Tried building a set of kitchen cabinets with a dowel jig last month after using pocket holes for 3 years. The dowels looked cleaner but my alignment was off on 4 out of 12 panels and now I'm redoing them. Anyone else have a nightmare switching methods or should I just stick with what works?

I switched from dowels to pocket holes three years ago and haven't looked back. Dowels need perfect alignment every time, but pocket holes give you a little wiggle room to adjust before you drive the screws. Your experience is pretty common, so I'd say stick with the pocket jig for face frames.

Mark, you ever ruin a whole project because one dowel hole was 1/16th off?
