After a job last week, I'm split on seam placement strategies.

Some installers say seams should be hidden in low traffic zones to avoid wear. Others argue that proper seaming techniques make seams durable anywhere. What's your go to method for seams in busy spots? I used to always tuck seams under furniture, but now I'm seeing more pros just seam it right in the walkway.

Hiding seams under furniture only works until someone moves the couch. A properly done seam with good glue and a roller is tough enough for any walkway. Just focus on doing the seam right instead of where to hide it.

Totally agree with @samschmidt, a solid seam is key. I double-cut mine with a sharp blade and they've held up perfectly in our main hall.

On the Fix It Home podcast, the host said double-cutting seams with a utility knife gives a cleaner edge than scissors. He demonstrated how to align the blades for a perfect overlap. That method seems to match what you're doing with the sharp blade. Have you tried using a seam roller after gluing?
