Hot take: I think people overuse grid for simple layouts.

My buddy Dave in Austin spent three days trying to make a product card grid responsive. He used CSS grid for a simple three column layout. It looked perfect on his monitor, but on his girlfriend's phone the images kept breaking into weird rows. He finally switched the main layout to flex with a media query and fixed it in an hour. It was a total over-engineering trap. Reminds me of what @amy268 said about the float days, just a new shiny tool we all want to use everywhere. Sometimes the simpler solution is right there.
