Got a stuck cutter head moving again with a trick from an old timer in Mobile
We were stuck in heavy clay for two days on a channel job, and the usual reverse-and-jiggle routine wasn't working. An old hand on the radio told me to try pulsing the swing winch while giving it a little forward power, and it broke free in about 20 minutes. Has anyone else found that helps with different kinds of sticky bottoms?

Man, reminds me of my uncle who swore by rocking his truck in reverse. Fried the transmission doing that.

That old timer trick sounds like a good way to burn out a swing motor... seems like pure luck it worked. Just sounds like you got a lucky break in the clay, not some magic trick. Most of those old methods are just superstition and can do more harm than good on modern gear. You probably would have broken free anyway with a bit more patience.
