Dropped $1,400 on a used reach-in cooler from a restaurant auction in Cleveland and it quit cooling in 9 days
Want to save somebody the headache I just went through. I bought a used two door reach-in at a restaurant auction in Cleveland back in March for $1,400, figured I was smart because new ones run four grand. It ran fine for about a week, then the compressor started short cycling and by day nine it was blowing room temp air. Turns out the auction listing said "tested working" but nothing about the refrigerant leak, and my usual repair guy quoted $600 just to crack it open. I ended up losing maybe $300 in product plus the $1,400, and the auction house told me all sales final. If you are buying used refrigeration, make them run it for 20 minutes in front of you or walk away. Anyone got a repair guy in the Cleveland area who won't soak me on a leak search?
