My new immersion blender got stuck in a 20-quart batch of soup

I was prepping a big batch of butternut squash soup for a catering gig, and the thing just locked up halfway through. Took me 45 minutes of unplugging, cooling, and gentle prying with a butter knife to finally free it without ruining the soup. Has anyone else had a tool just completely give up at the worst possible moment?

Yikes, that sounds like a motor overload.

Ever check the voltage at the outlet? I've seen low voltage cause that exact sound before it trips.
