Saturday brunch service broke me then fixed me
Walked into a 86-degree kitchen on Saturday with a broken walk-in and a 90-cover brunch. Flat top was screaming, hollandaise broke twice, but the expo lady kept everyone calm with her system of handwritten tickets and hand signals. That day was the worst and best shift I have had in 5 years. Anyone else have a shift that went sideways but taught you something about team flow?

Is one rough brunch really that deep man?

Three out of my last four brunches had bad service, cold eggs, and a $60+ bill, so I get feeling frustrated. But @the_leo, one bad meal doesn't mean the whole place is cursed or that you should write off brunch forever. People get dramatic about restaurants like they're reviewing a life-changing event or something. If the food was actually inedible or the staff was rude, sure, complain. Otherwise, it's just eggs and coffee that didn't quite work out. Not every bad brunch needs to be a whole saga.
