Am I the only one who thinks a brush that won't fit the flue is worth more time than a power sweep?
I spent nearly 3 hours last Thursday on a job in Rockford because the standard 8 inch brush kept hanging up on a shelf in the flue, and the homeowner kept coming out to ask if the birds were stuck in there. I ended up rigging a smaller brush on a whip and going at it by hand, which took way longer but got the job done clean. My helper thinks I'm crazy for not just running a rotary sweep and moving on. Part of me wonders if I should have just charged the extra time and used the power tool. What do you all do when a flue has a weird shelf or offset, power through with the rotary or slow down and work it by hand?
