Realized I was sweeping top-down for 2 seasons, and a cracked flue tile in Dayton made me flip my whole routine
Started going bottom-up after a homeowner asked why soot was raining down on her mantel every time I finished, and the brush was just knocking loose gunk onto the smoke shelf instead of out the top. Anyone else switch directions mid-career, or am I the only one who wasted 2 seasons doing it backwards?
