Spent $340 on a camera setup for the truck and it paid for itself in 2 months
I do a lot of work in older Baltimore row homes where the flues twist around in ways you can't see from the roof. For years I was guessing on blockages and sometimes had to pull the brush back out and go in blind. Dropped $340 on a cheap inspection camera with a 30 foot reel and a small screen back in March. First job after that, I found a collapsed tile about 12 feet down that would have cost the homeowner thousands if I'd kept ramming a brush through it. I've since caught 4 birds nests and a badly cracked liner that no amount of flashlight peeking would have shown. The camera already paid for itself on that one collapsed tile job alone. Curious if anyone else here runs a camera on residential work, and what depth reel you find actually useful?
Had a similar thing happen with an old furnace flue, the camera showed a squirrel carcass wedged in there that I never would've found otherwise. The homeowner thought they had a draft problem the whole time.
