Got called out by a hardware store guy in Toledo over a "final_final_v7" and now I'm questioning everything
Last month I drove out to a hardware store in Toledo to grab some paint chips for a kitchen remodel project, and the guy behind the counter asked what I did for work. I told him I design stuff for clients, and he laughed and said, "So you're the guy who sends me files named final_final_v7." I stood there holding a beige swatch feeling weirdly caught. Here's my issue though, I've worked with a guy who sends me 40 photos with names like IMG_4482 and expects me to just know which one is the front of the house. On the other side, I've also been handed a 12 page PDF with layer names like "Layer 14 copy 2" from another designer. So which is worse, the guy with zero naming system or the control freak who renames everything three times a day? I honestly can't decide and it's been bugging me for a month. What naming system do you actually enforce with clients, if any?
