Just realized a simple scope checklist stopped 3 client fights before they started

I kept having clients in Medford ask for "just one small change" that turned into 6 more hours of work. After the third time last month, I made a one-page checklist that lists exactly what's included for the flat fee and what costs extra. I give it to them before we even start and they sign it. So far three clients tried to add stuff but backed off when I pointed to the sheet. Has anyone else tried something like a simple checklist or do you use contracts for everything?

That checklist bit reminds me of my buddy who had a guy try to add a whole bathroom reno after signing for a simple repaint.

You know what that checklist thing reminds me of? I had a client once who kept asking for "small additions" to a website build, and I finally just made a list of what the price included and what cost more. @max388 your buddy's bathroom reno story is wild. They tried to add a whole tiled shower after signing for a repaint? That's like ordering a coffee and asking for a free latte. My checklist thing worked great until one guy tried to argue that "minor tweaks" meant rewriting the whole homepage copy. Had to pull out the signed sheet and show him where it said each round of edits after the second one was billed separately. Keeps everyone honest.
