Showerthought: A guy at a Phoenix trade show told me my contract was 'too mean' and now I can't decide if he was right
Was at a small design meetup in Phoenix last month and this guy looked over my standard contract while we waited for coffee. He said the late fee clause and the two revision limit were 'too mean' and that I'd scare off good clients with it. But here's the thing, I added those lines after a project dragged on for 5 extra weeks and I ate about $2,800 in unpaid work. So now I'm stuck between his side, where being nice wins people over, and my side, where clear rules keep me from getting burned. Where do you all land on this, is a strict contract a red flag for clients or is it just protecting yourself?
